Scheduling snafus, controversies, and an uphill battle were among the events encircling last night’s Northern Indiana Social events for those in Michiana. I would be less than honest if I didn’t confess that my thoughts on the drive up were with them.
My thoughts were also on that drive up US 12 along the National Lakeshore. Its been too long since I had a good sundown drive along the lake, listening to good live music. It’s the first time I drove that route, in that setting, in that car. But I’d a sworn the car knew every curve.
It put me in a Tweetup state of grace.
The first thing I heard when I got to the “It’s Vegas, Baby,” room was that the Michiana Tweetup was a success, and that a few of them made the drive over to be with us. Michelle Hillaert, Between the Buns Grill…wow. I was glad they hadn’t had their taste for Tweetups spoiled.
Always good to see Lacy. Rumor had it his Indiana SBDC presentation that morning went off without a hitch. And Daver was allowed to pitch the Tweetup during the session.
Fun, friends, foods…and though Blue Chip Casino no longer carries Gumballhead, it was good to be back for the evening.
As we say at NWITweetup regarding monthly meetups:
If it ain’t free, it ain’t for me. It’s the only way to be.
…with the exception of the occasional killer milk & honey events like Social Media Club.
How to Know When the next NWITweetup Is
- pay attention to the nwitweetup / #nwitweetup conversation on twitter
- check back at NWITweetup.com, the source for Northwest Indiana Tweetups, Meetups, Mashups, and other Social Media networking events…

Conclusion
What I hope the Michiana tweeps learned from the evening is that choices are plentiful. Nobody needs to get pigeonholed into any one particular event.
And they all can work together.

Like the pic! Yes, it really was a fun event. What I love about the NWI Tweetup is that even though it is a 'networking' type of event, it's more like a social gathering and a great way to meet new friends (at least it has been that way for me)… and if networking takes place in the meantime… so be it.
I was lucky to meet someone who I'm sure will become a lifetime friend… (Yes… I'm being dramatic again… well… somewhat 🙂 Her name is April and she's the manager at the Ann Taylor Loft store right near where I work…. My fav store in the entire world! In fact… I went there yesterday and am very happy to say… am one dress richer (or $25 poorer???)… but that's a great example of how just being in the nwitweetup environment… talking to April and making a friend encouraged me to make a trip to a store I haven't been to in a couple of months (terrible… terrible..).
NWI Tweetup result? Fun? Check. Networking? Check. Results? Sale for April and a happy Michelle (feel like a million bucks in my new Ann Taylor).
Conclusion? Thank you NWI Tweetup for my new Ann Taylor dress. (And yes… it makes TOTAL sense 🙂

Well done Nate, I was bummed to miss it, and glad that NW Indiana was able to have fun with our new Michiana friends. I think the next big event in the fall should include Lafayette too!

We would like to connect with NWITweetup for May's Tweetups – yours and ours. We plan to have guest speakers @ future tweetups as we found lots of Michiana folks want to learn more about social media/networking.
Do you guys know what date you have set up for May? Who do I contact to find out? Dave??Steve?? Natfinn?

I'm glad you enjoyed it so much. It sounds like the beginning of a pattern 🙂
i think we're gonna try to tour Albanese Candy Factory on the 15th of May. You up for it? Bring said midgets
natfinn says
absolutely. I think Albanese could end up being a go. Precourt has June and July.
What do you propose?

We've got a #nwitweetup for Saturday the 15th that's half-way planned. Y'all are welcome to attend. What other May event do you propose?
